Durham Literacy Center Refugee Language Program

The Durham Literacy Center has formed a partnership with Lutheran Family Services of North Carolina to provide ESOL classes for immigrant refugees in Durham. They provide trained tutors who work one-on-one or in small groups either in the learners' homes or at community sites. The focus of the Refugee Language Program is to provide refugees the basic English language skills necessary to participate in their new community and to provide mentorship.

This site from a Nebraska organization does a wonderful job of listing local and other opportunities for refugees and immigrants.  It has Local Programs links with opportunities for immigrants and refugees to learn job skills, create new businesses, and learn English. From the list, you can see the eligibility guidelines, office hours, get a map, contact information, and more. There are also links to connect to online English language learning activities and immigration information to help you with your INS/BCIS paperwork.
